Panasonic Electric Works Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as Panasonic Electric Works) will launch "Panasonic Home Solar Power Generation System HIT® 215 series" on July 1, 2010. The system adopts "HIT Solar Cell (by SANYO Electric Co., Ltd) (*2) " , a single-crystalline silicon based hybrid(*3) solar cell module which has the world's highest energy conversion efficiency of 16.8% (nominal maximum output of 215W/module) among home solar cell modules.
High energy conversion efficiency of the module is most suitable for homes built on narrow lots.
Its excellent thermal property also ensures high output even in a high temperature environment in the summer. The module has two options of "Sheathing-attached Type F" for direct installation on the sheathing for new homes, implemented by proprietary construction methods, and "Rooftop-mounted Type" recommendable for renovation. Panasonic Electric Works expects to expand sales of the systems by fully utilizing the respective characteristics of the Appliance sales channels of Panasonic Corporation as well as the Building Products and Electrical Construction Materials sales channels of Panasonic Electric Works.
By connecting the Home Solar Power Generation System with "Lifinity", an intelligent home energy management system of Panasonic Electric Works and thin plasma "VIERA" TV of Panasonic Corporation, the users can perform simplified home energy management by viewing and confirming information on the energy generated , energy consumed and the electric rate for the day. Its combined use with all-electric home appliances such as "Eco Cute" and induction heating (IH) cooking stoves will lead to further energy saving.
Leveraging the existing nation-wide network of construction, electric work and roofing specialists, Panasonic Electric Works achieved a high construction quality. In addition, a "New 10-year Warranty System" ensures safe and secure use of the product series for a long term.
The Panasonic Group is committed to building a comfortable and eco-friendly platform which connects energy creation, energy storage and energy saving smartly to achieve sustainable, safer and more comfortable life.

Major Characteristics
(1) The world's highest energy conversion efficiency of 16.8%
(2) Two options of "Sheathing-attached Type F" for new homes and "Rooftop-mounted Type" recommendable for renovation.
(3) Reducing total CO2 emissions from home by linking with Panasonic products such as "Lifinity" and "VIERA"
Characteristics
(1) The world's highest energy conversion efficiency of 16.8%
<The world's highest energy conversion efficiency>
"HIT Solar Cells" can have a clean pn junction interface thanks to the proprietary technology of hybrid single-crystalline silicon and achieves higher energy conversion efficiency than multi crystalline and single crystalline silicon, due to lower losses of generated electrons passing through the band-gaps (defective area) compared to multiple or single crystalline silicon.
This high energy efficiency per module allows higher power generation even on narrow roofs. Powerful power generation capability with small footprints is suitable for the feed-in-tariff program.
|
|
With fewer modules required to cover the same roof area, load on the roof can be reduced as well.
|
|
<Excellent thermal property>
Due to its better thermal property than conventional crystalline silicon solar cell modules, "HIT solar cell" module is characterized by maintaining high output in a high temperature environment. The resulting output difference on a sunny summer day where the surface temperature hits 75 degrees Celsius is approximately 10% maximum.
(2) Two options of "Sheathing-attached Type F" for new homes and "Rooftop-mounted Type" recommendable for renovation
< "Sheathing-attached Type F": to be directly installed on the sheathing attached with thatch materials >
1. Good design: a flat and thin design which blends nicely into slate or ceramic roof tiles
2. Simplified and reduced installation work: no requirement of roof tiles beneath the solar cell modules
3. Wind and rainproof: tolerant to the wind speed of 60m/sec and as lightly weighted as decorative slate tiles, the modules mitigate load on the roof.
<"Rooftop-mounted Type": to remove part of ceramic roof tiles and attach supporting roof tiles and brackets>
1. Handy installation with fewer tiles to be removed: easy construction due to installation of supporting roof tiles and brackets on limited areas
2. Installable on various roofing materials including thick Japanese ceramic roof tiles and planar decorative roof tiles, suitable for renovation
|
|
(3) Reducing CO2 emissions from the entire home by linking with Panasonic products such as "Lifinity" and "VIERA"
By linking the solar cell modules, "Lifinity" and "VIERA", it is possible to view the power generated by the solar cells and consumed at home to encourage energy management among family members.
In addition, by using all-electric home appliances and home appliances equipped with "Eco Navi" feature of the Panasonic Group, it is possible to reduce CO2 emissions from the entire home and to realize eco for the entire home, comprehensively, from energy creation and energy saving to energy storage.
