Lecture Delivery and Workshop on Lighting

- In Ryujin Village, Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture -

Panasonic Electric Works Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as Panasonic Electric Works) will hold a lecture on eco-friendly lighting and a handcrafted LED lantern workshop for children run by the employees in Ryujin Village, Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture.

Since 2007, Panasonic Electric Works has been participating in the Corporate Reforestation Program promoted by Wakayama Prefecture and has been involved in tree-planting activities in a lot of land lent by the prefecture called "Nagaki no Mori*" in Ryujin Village. This delivery of the lecture and the workshop under the theme of lighting is planned to promote exchanges with the villagers. Particularly, the workshop offers local children an opportunity to create their original LED "andon" or Japanese traditional floor standing lanterns made of thinned Japanese cedar and "Washi," Japanese traditional paper produced in the village.

Panasonic Electric Works, as an advocator of compatibility of comfortable lifestyles and eco-friendliness, believes education support activity for children who will lead the next generation is one of the important responsibilities of a corporate citizen. Starting with the lecture in Ryujin Village, similar lecture delivery service will be introduced to other areas.

  • * "Nagaki no Mori" is the name of the lot of land where Panasonic Electric Works conducts tree-planting.
The name wishing for "long life (nagaiki or nagaki in Japanese)" of the woods was chosen among various names collected from the employees.
